Join us on February 16th and 17th at Salle Bernard-LeBlanc Hall located in the Aberdeen Cultural Centre for our presentation of Eve Enseler's The Vagina Monlogues and Memory Monologue Rant and Prayer. The stories are real and they cover very important and varied issues affecting women still today, but they also have beauty and heart and humor.
Tickets available at https://www.eventbrite.ca/.../the-vagina-monologues.
Evan Jones
Evan Jones is a teacher who sort of fell into the world of dramatic arts. While teaching at Petitcodiac Regional, he was offered his own fledgling theatre arts class to run as he saw fit! It was a huge success, and made him curious to explore life in front of an audience, rather than behind the scenes. This is his second stint at Hubcity and probably not his last. A huge shout out to the whole cast and crew who have made this set feel like home.
Greg Durand
Greg is rediscovering his love for theatre, particularly scripted theatre, after a long hiatus. This is his second Hubcity Theatre performance, having acted in 2023's Laramie Project. His background is mainly in improv, as a university troupe alumnus and proud grad of the Canadian Improv Games, where he was fortunate enough to perform at Ottawa's National Arts Centre. He is a translator, speaker of three languages and long-time photographer, and he enjoys traveling, trivia, drawing and tennis.
Jessica Whalen
After helping to reclaim c*nt as a wide-eyed university student back in 2007, Jessica is honored her "lucky #7" performance with Hubcity is in the essential works of "The Vagina Monologues". As always, Jessica is grateful for the continuous (and possibly exhausted) support from her friends and family, and would like to give a tremendous "thank you" to Nery for the opportunity to participate in her vision of the Monologues. Jessica will be appearing with Hubcity again this April as Mash in the upcoming production of "Stupid F*cking Bird" at Theatre L'Escaouette.

Kelly MacDonald Mason
Kelly’s first foray into acting was as N.O., the bad elf, in her Grade 2 Christmas play – she wanted the meaty villain role while her teachers worried about casting such a shy, quiet girl. After her mother questioned what child they were talking about and assured them it would be fine, she got (and nailed!) that part. As an adult, she’s been involved in several Hubcity Theatre productions, including the Roomies tour, Psychosis 4.48, The Laramie Project (twice) and Roundhouse Theatre’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. As a member of the Hubcity Theatre board, she would be remiss if she didn't invite you to join us - taking part in theatre is a fun way to be creative and meet people - auditions for Shakespeare in the Park will be announced soon
Jessica Dunphy
Jessica’s passion is working in the arts in Canada, especially in her home province of New Brunswick. She has spent years in Halifax, New York, Vancouver and Toronto where she appeared in numerous plays, independent films, and performance art pieces along with directing for the stage and writing for radio and television. Her love of the arts, especially film, culminated in nine exciting years at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jessica is an ardent intersectional feminist and is overjoyed to perform in one of the most important pieces of political theatre of our time.
When offstage, you can find her rallying against the patriarch, watching Criterion Channel, and searching local bakeries for the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
Bryna Dickson Roper
Bryna has been involved in Hubcity Theatre productions since 2018, notably Jesus Christ Superstar, The Laramie Project (twice), Romeo and Juliet, Almost, Maine, and Circle, Mirror, Transformation. She loves working in theatre both on and off stage. She thanks her family for their support of her theatre projects and to everyone involved with Hubcity Theatre for their contributions to her life.
Trish Henricks
Having been in Shoestring Theater as a kid and drama with school, Trish never really lost her curiosity for the stage. A few chapters and adventures later… Here she is!
Trish thanks her Hubbs and kiddos for the encouragement and push, and to Nery and Bryna for this fantastic opportunity!
John MacKenzie
“But year after year that summons, unheard but felt, was disobeyed. His one secret thought became like a chain binding down his spirit and like a serpent gnawing into his heart.” Nathaniel Hawthorn
Nery Valenzuela
Nery Valenzuela -Torres directs this play with particular affection, as it was the first theater production she witnessed in the city of Concepcion-Chile, her hometown. Drawing from her perspectives as an actress and nurse, she consistently endeavors to contribute not only an artistic but also a social vision to each production she has been involved in, whether as an actress, cultural facilitator, or from a production standpoint.
