TYLER ANDREW
Tyler Andrew is a multi-disciplinary visual designer and entertainment technician from the greater Moncton area. Specializing in lighting and video design, Tyler loves crafting rich visual experiences. He is excited to be back working in theatre after focusing on live events and television for the past few years. Pulling from various disciplines of lighting design, he combines different techniques in unconventional and unique ways. He is always looking to find new and exciting methods to bring his designs to life and hopes you enjoy the experience.
DARREN BLOIS
Darren is thrilled to play such a great character, in such a great play, by such a great writer, with such a great director and cast. “So much feeling!” as Sorn says. Thank you for coming to support Hubcity’s shows. Previous credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, Circle Mirror Transformation, As You Like It, Richard III, Hamlet, Comedy of Errors (Hubcity), Christmas Carol (Atlantic Ballet Theatre).
JUSTIN BRIAN
Justin is thrilled to be returning to Hubcity Theatre this time Stage managing this brilliant show. You may have seen Justin on stage in the most recent productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Romeo & Juliet, and The Laramie Project. Justin would like to take a moment to thank the incredible and talented cast and crew of Stupid Fucking Bird for all their handwork and countless hours in making this show what it is! Enjoy the show!
BRAD BUTLAND
A founding member of Hubcity Theatre in 2007, Brad is thrilled to be sharing his passion for performance and entertaining audiences. Brad's love of the theatre was kindled during his years at Crandall University and cemented during his time studying Shakespeare and Drama while on academic exchange to Oxford University in 2004. While primarily having performed on the stage, Brad has also found success in the world of film. He starred in the feature-length horror anthology "Tales from the Campfire" and was a supporting actor in the critically acclaimed and award-nominated "A Way to Go/Una Forma de Partir". Brad is making his return to the stage with Hubcity Theatre after a six year absence.
JESSICA DUNPHY
Jessica is beyond thrilled to be performing in Stupid F*cking Bird and is grateful for Hubcity and JB Vanier for presenting such an important and topical piece of theatre that resonates with her iconoclast nature. Clawing through the stifling, airless world of our black and white dichotomies of understanding each other, this gorgeous and hilarious piece of theatre reveals the complexity of multiple existential truths which we must hold onto, however difficult, in order to truly empathize with and love each other. Jessica has spent years in Halifax, New York, Vancouver and Toronto where she appeared in numerous plays, and independent films along with directing for the stage and writing for radio and television. In her spare time you can find complaining about the patriarch, late stage capitalism, and colonialism, along with mauling her poor dogs, and searching local bakeries for the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
SAMUEL GROVE
"What's the point of art? Is it escapism, or meant to challenge? Is all art inherently political? Can if affect change in our lives, or the lives of others? Why did you come to see a play called Stupid Fucking Bird? Samuel is delighted to be back on stage again with Hubcity Theater. A professional Stage, Film, and Voice Actor, Samuel lives in Moncton with his wife, two incredible children, a dog, and two insufferable cats. You may have seen him as Orlando in "As You Like It" (2021), Duke Buckingham in "Richard III" (2019), "Psychosis 4:48", as well as a myriad of other shows, both around town and online!"
MALCOLM MEALEY
Malcolm Mealey, also known under the artist name necessary weight, has been making music since the age of 6, picking up any instrument within reach, going on orchestra tours, and releasing their first EP in 2022. Taking any opportunity to compose, they are incredibly thankful for this opportunity to create for such talented artists.
JAKE MICHAUD
In 2020, Jake graduated from Mount Allison University with a minor in Drama Studies. Over the years he worked on a range of shows both on- and off-stage working in lighting design & operation, stage management and acting. His experience in Moncton included a starring role in Roundhouse’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in 2019, and a Lighting Designer in Roundhouse’s The 39 Steps in 2021. Being his first major project in some time, Jake jumped at the chance to work with such a talented and experienced cast, and hopes you enjoy what they have prepared for you all tonight.
KELLY TYNAN
This show is funny and clever and complex and weird and irreverent and heartbreaking—like all the best things in life—and Kelly is elated that she gets to be a part of it. Bringing Nina to life alongside a cast and director who share the same love of theatre and of creation is actually, actually a gift. (But, for the record, Kelly really likes birds and does not think they are stupid.) Past shows include: Jesus Christ Superstar; Almost, Maine; Romeo & Juliet and other Shakespeare in the Park productions (Hubcity Theatre); Last Chance Romance (Hairy Tease Productions); The 39 Steps (Roundhouse Productions). Much love, as always, to her ever-supportive family!
JB VANIER
JB Vanier, the director of the play, did not pose for a cool headshot in fancy clothes like the rest of the cast because he likes to spend most of his time in his fashion forward and crucial-to-his-identity poofy pants. Some of his accomplishments include: writing his bio slightly differently over 50 times; owning two hats; cooking a perfect medium-boiled egg, He is deeply appreciative of the many friends he has made through his time with this company and for all the talented people he gets to work with. He sincerely hopes you enjoy this play that has been on his mind since he was but a wee lad in university 10 years ago.
JESSICA WHALEN
Jessica is excited to appear as the undeniably relatable Mash (like the pit, not what you do to potatoes), in her 8th Hubcity Theatre show. Recent performances include "the Vagina Monologues" (Feb 2024), "The Laramie Project" (Nov 2023) and "Jesus Christ Superstar" (April 2023). Jess sends many thanks to JB for trusting her to muddle through the ukulele, to family/friends for their support of her never ending theatre obsession - especially Kenzie, unofficial ukulele coach and life-saver, endless love to the cast for making life less ""dismally disappointing"", and Hubcity for incredible community theatre opportunities. "Eugchh, artists." Enjoy this stupid f*cking show!
