Our works are produced on the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq Peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

Two houses, Two hearts, One cruel fate

In a land of fantasy and magic named Verona, two star-crossed lovers meet one fateful night, contrary to the wishes of their family of bitter rivals. But their love may not be enough to outpace the steady march of destiny giving chase. They may be able to defy their families, but none can defy fate.

Hubcity Theatre is pleased to present William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet in Centennial Park, the classic tale of love, hate, family, friendship, and fate. Our largest cast ever will bring to life a fantasy version of the beloved story replete with magic spells, sword fights, and beautiful poetry.

SCARLETT ALLEN

Scarlett has been acting from a young age with the capital theatre. She has been part of several productions, including Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz, Elf the Musical, La Marichette, and more. Most recently, she was the lead in “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark” at Riverview High School. She is excited to be back on stage after the delays caused by COVID-19 and looks forward to being a part of the chorus in this production. Scarlett is grateful for the support of her friends and family and hopes everyone enjoys the performance of Romeo and Juliet.

ROWAN BABSTOCK

Rowan is once again excited to be participating in Hubcity Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park. After his Hubcity debut in last year’s production of The Merry Wives of Windsdor, he is so glad to be returning for this show. Rowan has done theatre for many years now, primarily with the School of Atlantic Ballet’s musical theatre program, featuring as Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol, Rudolpho in Matilda, and many more. He and his mother have always shared a love for theatre, and he wouldn’t be here doing this show if not for her. Now please, enjoy the show!!!

GRACE BRADLEY-TURNER

Grace is thrilled to be participating in Hubcity’s theatres Shakespeare in the Park for the very first time. Grace has been performing since she was 8 but only recently has she gotten into performing in theatre. She was just in Madagascar the Musical where she played the role Lew the lemur. She has always had an interest in theatre since she was young and is very excited to finally do it. Another interest she has is playing the guitar, which she has been playing since the third grade. Now, enjoy the show!!!

EMMA CHAPMAN

Emma Chapman is Riverview High School student who has been performing publicly with a variety of companies since 2017. She has worked with The School of Atlantic Ballet (Madagascar, Jr., The Christmas Carol, Little Mermaid) , Mount Allison University (Fun Home), Riverview High School (Don't be afraid of the Dark). She took her first role with Hubcity in 2022 as Robin in The Merry Wives of Windsor She is very much looking forward to Romeo and Juliet. When she isn't acting she enjoys playing piano and ukulele, singing, art, and is a super star ice cream scooper on her mother's ice cream truck.

LEX DEIGHTON

I have been doing theatre for the past seven years and my most recent role was the one of Annie in Moncton High School’s production of Annie. However, this is my first time taking on Shakespeare and I couldn’t be happier to have the experience! This show has been a lot more challenging then the others due to the text being so different from modern day speech, but I love trying new things and I am so excited to watch this show be put together! We have a wonderful cast and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help the audience get lost in our production of Romeo and Juliet.

FELICIA FRIZZELL

Felicia Frizzell is a 20 year old Monctonian. She became interested in performing at elementary school. This led her to joining Moncton High School choir and drama clubs. Before Covid, she went to Dramafest in Fredericton. She performed in the Nifty 50s musical. Her favorite musical production was The Bachelor Princess Edition in 2019 where she played Cinderella. She graduated in 2021. Since then, she has taken stand-up comedy, drama and musical theatre classes at the Capital Theatre. This is her first time participating in community theatre. She is exited to perform in front of you all.

GIGI INARA

Gigi Inara is a multi-talented performer who loves immersing herself in a good show both on stage and from the audience. A graduate of the York University music program, Gigi has been seen in an eclectic set of appearances in recent years most recently with Hubcity Theatre’s It’s A Wonderful Life production (2022). Behind the scenes, Gigi has also partnered with Jay Clipperton as co-musical director for East of the Sun, West of the Moon (2013). When not working on plays she also paints up a storm in her basement and hits people with swords.

MIA LARCHE

Mia Larche is an actress, dancer, singer and choreographer from Moncton, New Brunswick. Recently she was Stage manager in the Capitol’s community production, she also choreographed and performed in Bringing Back Broadway with Hazy Grape. Past roles include choreorgrapher for Trail to Oregon, ensemble in Heathers with the Dalhousie Theatre Society, Ève in the play Touché au cœur, A regular in the Nutcracker with the Academy of Classical Ballet and Modern Dances since 2011,with favourite role of Drosselmeyer “Drossie” 2021. Mia would like to thank her family for always supporting her in all her endeavours! She wishes you all a great show!

ANVER MAHMUD

A new member of Hubcity Community Theatre, Anver Mahmud is a native of Moncton NB who worked primarily as a Voiceover Artist and is now making the jump to Live Acting. Having studied acting with the likes of Brendan Hunter and Deb Munro and worked with local Media Agencies in Rothesay and Saint John, he first debuted in Hubcity's “It’s a Wonderful Life” and now is trying his hand at Shakespeare as Prince Escalus the Prince of Verona: The Voice of Authority and the Desperate Resolver of the feuding families in “Romeo and Juliet”.

MEL MEALEY

Melanie is thrilled to be back with Hubcity for her eleventh season of Shakespeare in the Park. Every now and then, she exercises/exorcises her truly terrible accents in non-Shakespearean shows like The 39 Steps. (Still, this all amounts to only half the drama she gets on the daily as a high school teacher.) Whether on stage, in the director's chair, behind the scenes, leading workshops, or taking in live theatre and music around town, Melanie loves participating in the life of our community through the arts. Thank YOU for your support, dear audience!

PARHAM MORTAZAVI

Parham has been a creative since childhood as a bass guitar and keyboard musician, and in the last couple years has begun delving in story writing and acting. His first acting role was in last year's Shakespeare in The Park as the charming Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor. After such a great debut with the amazing Hubcity Theatre's cast and crew, he's excited to return for now a more dramatic role as Abram. A fervent member of few words in the Capulet clan, yet still a stirring physical presence itching for his time.

MORGAN NICHOLSON

My name is Morgan Nicholson, and I am sixteen years old. I have been acting since I was around twelve years old in some school theatre productions, one of which was Sleeping Beauty. I also attended an acting camp at the Capitol Theatre where we put on a modernized version of Macbeth. I want to thank my parents for supporting me in doing whatever makes me happy. I also want to thank my friends for convincing me to audition for a school play years ago, which opened my eyes to the marvellous and alluring world of acting.

MARIA OLKINITSKAYA

Maria began her theatrical journey at The School of Atlantic Ballet in 2019. She did two years of musical theatre there, participating in 4 song performances from various movies during the Covid season: Annie, Aladdin, School of Rock and Beauty & the Beast. She’s currently taking theatre classes in high school for the second semester. Mari is a fan of theatrical performances and enjoys viewing local productions. Some of her current interests along acting include cinematography, guitar, and drawing. She is happy to participate in this year’s Romeo & Juliet in the Park and is excited to audition for future projects at Hubcity Theatre.

JILL QUIRING

Jill is grateful for the honour of being able to connect with audiences since she was a child when she was first captivated by the magic of the stage. In taking up the role of the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Jill marks her eleventh production with Hubcity Theatre. In addition to her work with Hubcity, she has also had the opportunity to perform with the Atlantic Ballet Company, the Capitol Theatre, and Hazy Grape in such productions as Oliver!, Mary Poppins, and Nunsense. Jill balances her passion for the stage with her role as an educator and mom to two wonderful humans. She thanks her partner, Jeremy, for his steadfast support.

KEITH RAYMOND

GEORGIA ROSS

Georgia has been a member of Hubcity Theatre for the past five years. She has appeared in several plays including, Circle Mirror Transformation as well as Shakespeare's productions of Richard III, As You Like It, and The Merry Wives of Windsor. She has written and directed several plays in her local school. In her spare time, Georgia enjoys traveling, hanging out with her pug dog, Otis, and following U2 when they are on tour. Georgia would like to thank our director, JB Vanier, as well as the cast and crew for their dedication to community theatre.

RORY SMITH

Rory Smith is a recent Riverview High School graduate, this is their fourth production with Hubcity. They have previously been in Atlantic Ballet Theatre productions such as Christmas Carol and Hazy Grape productions like Grease. In the coming years they will be getting a minor in theatre arts, acting is a passion of theirs and hopes to eventually run a schools theatre program. Juliet was one of their dream roles and has been honoured to be a part of this show and work with their fellow wonderful actors.

MALCOLM STAFFORD DENBY

Malcolm is currently a student at the Capitol Theatre Academy. He has also studied at Act One Drama School in Ajax, ON. Malcolm’s favourite role was portraying Twit in MMMBETH. Malcolm’s special love is improv because it is ‘just fun’. In 2019, Malcolm received a silver medal for his role as Duke Flyswatter in An Unexpected Visitor in a Newmarket,ON acting competition. Last year, Malcolm played Slender in Hubcity’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. Malcolm’s goal is to play his favourite superhero, Spider-man. Malcolm would like to thank all the teachers he has had for sharing their knowledge, experience, and guidance.

KELLY TYNAN

No Tybalt will ever be as cool as John Leguizamo was in the ‘90s movie; still, Kelly is happy for a chance to try, and to be returning for her fifth Shakespeare in the Park. Other past shows include: Last Chance Romance (Hairy Tease Productions); Jesus Christ Superstar and Almost, Maine (Hubcity Theatre); The 39 Steps (Roundhouse Productions); and A Christmas Carol (School of Atlantic Ballet). Much love to her ever-supportive family—even though her son is playing a dreaded Montague. Endless thanks to JB for being a first-rate co-director (!!!), theatre mentor and friend.
