Hubcity Theatre celebrates golden age of radio with Radio Rewind

Hubcity Theatre travels back in time on March 26 when it performs, for one night only, Radio Rewind: A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio.

Playing at the Moncton Peace Centre in Moncton, the show is a one night tribute to radio plays of the past.  Radio Rewind includes four classic radio shows from the 1930s-1950s performed in front of a live audience.

“We’re performing these shows as many were performed back in the day, with a live studio audience during broadcast,” says Hubcity Theatre Artistic Director Paul David Power. “It’s a great chance for those who remember the era as well as nostalgia buffs to hear these shows that have become true legends in broadcast history.”

Radio Rewind transports its audiences back to radio studios of the past. Actors in the production will take on a variety of roles in their guise as radio performers of the era, performing such legendary radio programs as Suspense: Sorry! Wrong Number, Abbott & Costello, The Guiding Light and The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

“We’ve selected a variety of genres from the era so there really is something for everyone,” says Paul. “Mystery, comedy, drama – it’s going to be a great night for fans of legendary radio broadcasts and for newer generations who may be hearing these great pieces for the first time.”

Radio Rewind plays on Saturday, March 26, 7 p.m. at the Moncton Peace Centre (22 Chruch Street). Tickets are $15 and available at the door by cash or credit.
