Official Press Release for 2016 Season

Hubcity Theatre forges new territory with exciting 2016 season

Mistaken identities in Victoria Park, time travelling to the days of classic radio dramas, a legendary whodunit and a first ever Atlantic Tour – Hubcity Theatre today announced a 2016 season designed to further strengthen Monctons reputation as a major hub for artistic creation and performance

We are very excited about the diverse arts programming we have planned for 2016,” says Artistic Director Paul David Power. This year our programming will provide Moncton residents and visitors an impressive menu of choice when it comes to live theatre. Furthermore, with our very first planned Atlantic Tour, we have the opportunity to act as artistic ambassadors for Moncton as we showcase a new work originating from our local arts community.”

In March the company will present a one night tribute to radio dramas of the past Radio Rewind will include three classic dramas from the golden age of radio during the 1930s-1950s performed in front of a live audience.

In May, Hubcity Theatre will embark on its first Atlantic Region Tour with its original work, ROOMIESROOMIES was staged last year in November at the Empress Theatre in Moncton. With positive reviews and interest from arts advocates, ROOMIES will travel to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI and other areas in New Brunswick as part of an Atlantic Region TourPerformances are scheduled throughout the months of May and June.

A cornerstone of Hubcity Theatres season is its annual Shakespeare in the Park, a free performance for the community. In 2016, Hubcity Theatre returns to Victoria Park with one of Shakespeares most popular comedies, Comedy of Errors. Performances are planned to run for two weekends in July.
