Official SitP 2015 Press Release
Much Ado About Nothing comes to Moncton’s Victoria Park
Victoria Park just got a little livelier — with a bride accused at her wedding of cheating, an angry groom storming out and another couple admitting their hate for one another has turned to love.
Nope – a bridal party photo session didn’t turn ugly — it’s Shakespeare’s comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. Hubcity Theatre returns to Moncton’s Victoria Park on July 24 for its annual Shakespeare in the Park.
“We’re really excited to be back in the park and showcasing what many consider one of Shakespeare’s best comedies,” says Hubcity Theatre’s Artistic Director, Paul David Power. “We’re setting the play just after World War I so it’s been a lot of fun adapting Shakespeare’s script to our vision and the time period. The cast and crew this year are fantastic – it’s going to be a real treat for audiences.”
Performances run for two consecutive weekends starting July 24 followed by July 25, 31 and Aug 1, Showtime is at 6:30 p.m. each night in the center of Victoria Park. Shows are free to the public.
“We are proud to offer our performances free for the community thanks to the ongoing support of the
City of Moncton,” says Paul. “It gives everyone the opportunity to come out and enjoy live theatre and
Shakespeare’s timeless stories the way they were meant to be experienced – as a live theatrical event.”
