The Directors of Hubcity Theatre

 

Mark McPhee - Chairman of the Board Born and raised in the Greater Moncton Area, Mark McPhee studied English Literature at Crandall University and partook of their Oxford University Study Programme. Through these experiences, he gained a great interest and respect for the dramatic works of Shakespeare as well as other dramatists. In 2011, Mark joined Hubcity Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park production of MacBeth as dramaturge and has since continued to work with Hubcity's productions in various capacities.

Brad Butland - Company Director Brad Butland resides in Moncton, but was raised in the nearby village of Alma, New Brunswick. He has been involved with Hubcity Theatre in different live theatre performances and administrative roles since its conception in 2007.  A 2008 graduate of what is now known as Crandall University, Brad was granted the opportunity to study drama and Shakespeare at Regent's Park College, one of the many colleges of Oxford University, and has enjoyed taking the stage ever since.

Brad Butland - Company Director

Brad Butland resides in Moncton, but was raised in the nearby village of Alma, New Brunswick. Cody Bolton - Company Officer Originally from rural Dow Settlement, New Brunswick, it was here that Cody was first bitten by the acting bug. After finishing high school, Cody attended Crandall University—then Atlantic Baptist University—in Moncton to obtain his B.A. in English. During his first four years, he embarked on the Oxford Programme through Crandall, studying Shakespeare & Theatre at the famed Oxford University for a term. Upon graduating in 2010 with his B.A., he continued his studies at Crandall, this time through the Bachelor of Education program. Having received his B.Ed, he decided to pursue his Master of Divinity at Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia while living in Moncton. Since moving to Moncton, Cody has co-founded Crandall Spotlight Theatre—Crandall University’s theatre company— and has been heavily involved with Hubcity Theatre since 2010. With Hubcity Theatre he has acted in a total of 6 productions, including A Streetcar Named Desire, Macbeth, The Three Musketeers, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Dracula, and The Winter’s Tale.  

Cody Bolton - Company Officer

Erin Lauriston - Company Secretary Erin moved to Moncton from Halifax, NS in 2012. As graduate of Mount Allison University, she was exposed to small theatre productions in school, but never got her feet wet. That opportunity came with Hubcity's Much Ado About Nothing as assistant stage manager. The bug bit, and she continued in the fall production of Roomies as Stage Manager.  She has enjoyed learning the ropes and seeing each production come to life. She was asked to join the board in 2016.

Aside from acting, Nicole also has a passion for writing and dancing.  She has danced in the Annual Student Show performed by the students of Studio Sephira in the past, and looks forward to dancing with them again.  

Nicole Cormier - Company Treasurer

Nicole, a resident of Moncton, graduated from Oulton Business College in 2007 with a Legal Assistant / Paralegal Diploma and she currently works full-time as a legal assistant. 

Hubcity Theatre's July 2013 presentation of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale was Nicole's first acting role.  She enjoyed performing with Hubcity Theatre and looks forward to performing with them in the future.  She was asked to join the Hubcity Theatre's Board of Directors in August 2013.

Aside from acting, Nicole also has a passion for writing and dancing.  She has danced in the Annual Student Show performed by the students of Studio Sephira in the past, and looks forward to dancing with them again.

JB Vanier - Company Director JB Vanier is an award winning director, actor and playwright originally from Montreal by way of Miami.  An Honor's graduate from Bishop's University and the Artistic Director to the Little Forks Theatre Company for three years, JB has performed and directed theatre ranging from classical and Shakespearean pieces to contemporary canadian works.  He is also trained in the Pochinko method of clowning.  In 2015, he moved to Moncton to join the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada as a drama teacher and director.  He joined Hubcity in 2016 as an actor and has since also directed and fight choreographed.  He has most recently finished a presentation with Power Production's Crippled at Fundy Fringe where the play won Outstanding Production.
